Covid-19
Corona
viruses are a large family of viruses that may cause illness in animals or
humans. It is only the most recently discovered strain. It is an infectious
disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Moreover, COVID19 stands for
coronavirus disease with 19 standing for the year it has been discovered. The
COVID-19 outbreak is spreading very fast every day and more than 4 million
people have been actively infected by this virus around the world. According to the WHO
organization, the most common symptoms includes: fever, dry cough, and
tiredness while less common symptoms include difficulty in breathing or shortness
of breath, chest pain as well as loss of speech or movement. Around 80% of
people with COVID-19 recover without specialist treatment. These people may
experience mild symptoms.
Last April, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a
recommendation advising everyone to wear a face mask in public to help slow the
spread of the coronavirus. Mask is a simple barrier to help you prevent your
respiratory droplets from reaching others. This will help slow the
spread of the virus from people who do not know that they have contracted it,
including those who are asymptomatic. People should wear face masks while
continuing to practice physical distancing. Physical distancing is new
for all of us, so it can feel strange. The
practice of social distancing means staying home and away from others as much
as possible to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The practice of social
distancing encourages the use of things such as online video calls and
phone communication instead of in-person contact. The new Coronavirus
has spread rapidly in many parts of the world. On March 11, 2020, the World
Health Organization (WHO)Trusted Source declared COVID-19 a pandemic. (Meaning it is an epidemic
occurring worldwide affecting numerous people) As stated by CNN News, the coronavirus began to take hold in Wuhan City,
province of China in December 2019. It was understood in time that the virus, which
is transmitted from animal to human, can spread from human to human too. Since
then, the virus has mostly spread through person-to-person contact. By early 2020 it had spread throughout regions of
China and had reached the four corners of the world, having been carried by
travelers. The COVID-19 pandemic is first and foremost a health
crisis. This pandemic has affected millions
of people, who are either sick or being killed due to the spread of the
disease. In addition, millions of students and workers had to modify to the new
normal... The COVID-19 pandemic
is the defining global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we
have faced since World War Two. Since its emergence in Asia in 2019, the virus
has spread to every continent except Antarctica. We have now reached
the tragic milestone of more than two million deaths. Every day, people
are losing jobs and income, with no way of knowing when normality will return.
Small island nations, heavily dependent on tourism, have empty hotels and
deserted beaches. The International Labour Organization estimates
that 400 million jobs could be lost. COVID19 has caused a significant drop in incomes, a rise in
unemployment, and disruptions in transportation services, manufacturing
industries, and tourism. The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is of a
scale most people alive today have never seen. Lockdowns and curfews to contain
the spread of the virus impacted the way children learn, the way their families
earn a living, and how safe they feel in their homes and communities. Despite
the ongoing threat, countries around the world are starting to lift
restrictions. As a matter of fact,
the world cannot go into full lockdown as that would lead to. The COVID-19 pandemic has also affected educational systems
worldwide, leading to the near-total closures of schools, universities, and
colleges.
The
impact was more severe for disadvantaged children and their families, causing
interrupted learning, childcare.
